"I teach and perform classical, flamenco, and folk guitar music."
An International Education
Self-taught from the age of 13, Andrew spent his teenage years mastering folk guitar and performing at local farmer’s markets.
Since then, Andrew has gone on to study classical guitar at UCLA and flamenco guitar in Granada, Spain. He has studied and performed throughout California and Europe, in countries such as Spain, Austria, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
An Accomplished Performer
Andrew has won multiple awards for his guitar playing, including the prestigious AVANTI Award— a large grant which allowed him to live in Spain and study flamenco.
Andrew’s diverse musical education has made him an entertaining and versatile performer. He has experience performing for weddings, restaurants, wineries, coffee shops, and small parties.
An Experienced Instructor
With over 10 years of experience teaching dozens of students, Andrew has developed into a confident and experienced instructor.
In addition to private guitar students, Andrew has experience teaching middle school students in downtown Los Angeles. After taking music education courses at UCLA he created a unique curriculum which focuses on teaching music the same way infants learn a language— naturally, via immersion.
A Biologist and Writer
Amidst his musical training, Andrew also pursued an education in the sciences, graduating from UCLA with a B.S. in biology, the University of Amsterdam with a M.S. in ecology and evolution, and UCLA School of Law with a M.L.S. in environmental law.
A main goal of his is to better engage the public with science and the arts. To accomplish this he has created ‘The Venn Diagram’— a blog filled with short essays, thought-provoking questions, and original poetry and photography.
